Hey Lurkers…Come Out of the Closet, Already!
I know you are there. I see it in my stats. Several hundred readers a day, and only a few comments (holla backs) per post?
I am very curious to know what I could do to get you to introduce yourselves and to tell me why you haven’t done so thus far. Please let me know who you are and what you are all about so that I can chat to ya in my posts!
Hugs, and thanks for putting up with my random curiosity.
I’m here
I comment sometimes!!
My name is Allison Lawless and I’m a lurker! Hi Kate! Long time! I do love to pop into your blog and see your latest creations! I’ll have a new website up (and a blog) in a couple weeks - I’ll share w/ you when it’s up and going.
I’m one of your blog stalkers! LOL… love your work and really enjoy your blog. I hope to someday be as great of a photographer as you! Happy Holidays!
I am totally bored at work, so I lurk on a lot of websites! Your photos are awesome! I look forward to seeing your amazing work each day. Thanks for sharing your talent with me. I check regularly, because like I said, I’m BORED!!!
I’ll admit that I’m a lurker. I really enjoy your blog. I just never know what to say in a comment. I can try to do better though. I love to glean inspiration from your blog!
Aloha! I’m a lurker, I’ll admit it. I have no idea how I found your site, but I love it and it has found a place in my Google reader. I love how you capture a person’s personality in each shot. Plus your pictures are just plain gorgeous! I’m currently living in Nashville, TN.
The pictures of my nephew Paul Michael, Katy and our Miss Bailey were works of art - what a talent God has blessed you with!
holla, holla ![]()
Did you miss me, Kate??? I was only gone a week!!! LOL (And don’t tell Rick, but I did check the blog while we were on our honeymoon…lookin’ for a sneak peak!!!) It really is an addiction. Your pics inspire me…the way you see the world is BEAUTIMOUS!!!!
Absolutely loved the pics! I sent the site to a BUNCH of folks I work with (Frisco High School). We ALL agreed that miss Bailey is the most beautiful baby and you really captured the love that my precious daughter and precious son-in-law have for her. Thanks for your wonderful eye!
HI! I used to always come to your site–then i was busy and now I have found my way back to read your amazing blog—and yes I am out of the lurker closet giving you a holla back! I love your work and your commitment to being exactly who you are! Keep it up!
HOLLA!!! You know I love ya!! And I know what you mean. Wouldn’t it be cool if just for ONE day, every person that visited your blog, left you a comment?!
Hi Kate,
Long time stalker, first time writer! I checj your blog everyday. Love your work and hope to be like you when I grow up! ![]()
Julie got me started looking at your blog when she showed me her engagement pictures. Your photos are fabulous! And I promise to post in the future!
I lurk quietly in the shadows of the web to follow your hilarious antics and the sound of your wonderful accent. I’d comment more often, but I am so friggin busy I can barely keep up with my Google Reader feeds. Love ya, girly!
The babie picks above are sooo cute, the ruffle but is my fave! I’m from Texas, learning as much as I can, your blog is awesome, and your a fab photographer! Can I sleep on you couch and pick your brain, haha!
Hi Kate! I have commented before and still lurk! You’re a hoot! ![]()

Bailey, I Knew You When You Were In Your Mommy’s Tummy
Just before Turkey Day, I had the pleasure of getting acquainted with Miss Bailey. I say “acquainted”, because I have known her for a while.
Not only did I photograph her parents last fall, but I also got to photograph her when she lived inside the basketball that Katie was smuggling. Katie and Paul Michael are just some of my very favorite clients, and guess what? Because PM’s cool Aunt Rhenda got them a JP Baby Plan, I’ll be showcasing this fab little family again and again. Yea!
I ADORE this image. It is like they are having a little family meeting.
Plus, you can see PM’s bassinet in the background that he is so generously letting his daughter use.

PM is just so in love with Bailey…the way he interacts with her makes me smile and warms my heart.

Look at all of the bows! She will undoubtedly be well accessorized!

Katie is so gentle and caring. She is already such a great mommy and I can’t wait to watch her raise Bailey into a little lady.

It’s not a “cat nap”. This, my friends, is a “HAT nap”!

Thanks, Katie and PM, for yet another fun and memorable session! I lurve you guys!
It’s so funny to me that i recognize people from your previous pictures. i must be a fan!
BTW - what’s a baby plan?
woman. you are a goddess!! i love them. esp the one of her sitting in the chair with the baby. niiiiiiiiiice
Hey Wendy! A baby plan is when a couple buys a bunch of sessions for me to photograph all of their baby’s milestones. It is a neat way to save a little bit instead of paying the big bucks for each individ. sesh.
I agree with Wendy, I feel like a stalker or something…I am starting to RECOGNIZE people on the blog!! Beautiful pics, Kate. Love Bailey’s hat…she pulls it off perfectly!!!
these are so great! they must love them!
i adore that hat!
Kate……This is without a doubt your best baby session!!! What a wonderful little family all wrapped up in your loving capture. I love you…Mom
OH THE HAT!!!! QUITE FABULOUS-AS ARE THE PICS!
[…] Little Miss Bailey has grown by leaps and bounds and has the friendliest, bubbliest little personality. Katie and PM must be the best parents in the world, because Bailey is constantly as happy as Noopsy gets when we accidentally spill his dog food. Oh boy! […]
Just a Friendly Reminder!
Hi Fabulous People!
I just wanted to remind you that in just a few days (DECEMBER 1ST), my pricing for portraits will increase from $400 to $500. Also, my bottom wedding package {The Standard} will increase from $2250 to $2500.
Any deposits received postmarked December 1st or earlier will be just fine. Any deposits received with a postmark of later than December 1st and after will be subject to an additional payment.
Thanks so much & I’m stepping off of the soapbox for now. Gotta go edit!
good for you, your work rocks and your prices should go up.
wowweeee. you gonna be rich. ![]()
you go girl!
Hey! I’m Katie Vacca’s younger sister, and i LOVE your pictures!! I see here the pricing for portraits, but i was wondering if you would consider doing a pet portrait session. I see that you have some family pics with pets in them, and they are so awesome! Anywho, I couldn’t find another way to locate your email, so i decided to post on your blog! Thanks!
Julie + Rick :: Hitched
After months of getting to know each other, I walked into this wedding like I was a family member. It was such a blessing to have not only photographed their engagement session, but to also have captured them as a new family.
I love love love this couple and the way they put everyone around them at ease. Neither one of them is afraid of being silly or having a good chuckle or giving a new friend a big hug, and by doing so, they are setting beautiful examples for their children on how to dance through life.
Big ups to my all-star second shooter, Mom, Wendy Kidd of Each & Every Detail, Tracy Richards at Eldorado Country Club, & Sahana Floral for rocking it out and making this a fantastic shindig.
Now, let me introduce to you, Mr. & Mrs. Twinkletoes, both graduates of many, many dancing lessons that were well worth the trouble!
Julie’s grandmother was smiling in heaven as Julie carried her rosary.

Here’s Rick’s daughter, Madison, getting her hair did.

Check out Rick practicing his moves.

How gorgeous does Julie look?! Her skin is like butter!

Rick, doing his infamous eye-squinch belly laugh.

The guys…just disrupting a little golf action on the 18th hole.

Love this ring shot!

They were just floating on the dance floor!

Definitely one of my favorite ring shots ever…good enough to eat!

Mom captured this one of Jules and Rick gettin’ their swerve on.

Due to the candy bar, the kids were fueled up for some major dance floor action!

After Mom and I helped a panicked Hannah (Julie’s daughter, who couldn’t dance because her dress was too long…we pinned it up for her!), she found her way over to the candy bar and got a treat.

I LOVE the pic of Hunter (Rick’s son) just after he dropped a pile of M&Ms and is dashing off, hoping no one will notice. Oops. I did!

Julie & Rick :: Thank you so very much for allowing me to become your friend. I am so honored that I am the one who was there with you on your wedding day, capturing the moments you will treasure forever. Let’s do lunch again soon. Love and hugs to you both!
You capture it all - the beauty, the anticipation, the emotion, and the fun - all in such an interesting way. The color and perspectives make for great viewing. Thanks for sharing. I love seeing new posts!
Wow! Gorgeous photos as always but what a fun wedding. So many great touches. The candy bar, the sparklers. Love it all! ![]()
I just can’t get over these pictures! I just keep coming back for more. You’ve outdone yourself Kate! I adore the fact that you picked my fave jar of candy to show, the rock candy suckers on top of junior mints. Love the ring pick too! Julie and Rick were so awesome and these pics truly reflect them.
Kate….you captured supreme happiness!!! What fun it is to “shoot” with you! You rock, girlfriend!
Love, Mom
Absolutely fabulous wedding! The pictures are just so awesome! You have a wonderful artistic eye!
Dwelling on the Positive (Guest House of the Century)
At Bobby’s parents’ ranch on Lake Buchanan, therein lies their newest project: the guest house of the century. It is green (environmentally conscious in every way, for those of you who still litter and drive Hummers), architecturally outstanding, and even cozy, despite its modern design. As a well-traveled woman who is nerdy enough to read books about architectural history, historic preservation, and interior design just for fun, I am difficult to impress. However, you may officially alert the press. My Uggs have been blown off by this amazing new structure, and I am so proud to know the owners.
Solar panels give things a boost!

With its funky decorative touches, the guest house is very inviting. Notice Sarah (with her fab hubby Scott) and Noopsy! Three of my favorite people. Yeah…I called Noopsy a person. The dysfunction doesn’t even end with that!

I adore the kitchen area. Of course, the turquoise cabinets just rock my world!

I see company colors for Juxtapose Photography!

The staircase is so intricately built and possibly (if I HAD to pick) my favorite element in the whole shebang.

Sure looks like a good party house, no?

Thanks so much for your hospitality, Pete & Lyn! We love you and continue to be amazed by you and your special projects! Muah!
Amazingly beautiful — and your photos look like they belong in Architectural Digest!
purty
wow…that is an amazing little house!! I love the view and the huge windows. Though, now that I think about it, I would hate to have to clean them
Great photos by the way!!
Wow, sums it up, beautiful home!
Kate - these photos are amazing! They absolutely should be in a magazine! The staircase is beautiful and so very interesting. I LOVE those floors! I have to tell you that at first glance the door mat looked like oatmeal cookies on a baking sheet. Now that’s a welcome mat!
Well Pete, you did it! How wonderful and so fresh and unique in all ways. I know you must be so proud of this great place. Love the openness and the colors. Can’t wait to see it in person. Congrats!
looooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee it!
Wow, wow, wow! That could be my dream house!! Well, one of them at least…I have a few styles that I like, but that house is fantastic. Your details shots are straight out of Architectural Digest! You guys should submit it for a feature. Seriously.
SHUT UP! This is really amazing. You’re cool factor totally went way up. It is such a beautiful place. People see and create beauty, in the MOST amazing ways. Thank you for sharing. you too ain’t half bad my friend! ![]()

Ranch-Style Millie
Oh, how she loves wearing her Uggs and being outdoors. Too bad we had to do it in intermittent jaunts as not to aggravate her breathing issues. We still had a ball nonetheless, and I think it shows on her face!

oh my gosh, she is just too stinkin’ cute!!!!
OMGoodness!! I can’t believe how big and beautiful she is getting .. It’s amazing how fast it’s going .. Don’t you agree!!
Great images .. Love you blog ..
She’s adorable. Love those eyes. Wow!
And PS: I haven’t forgotten you. Crazy holiday weekend but I’ve been searching for the illustration bit. I just want to make sure I’ve got some options that I think you’ll like before I commit to the project.
Hope you had a great holiday! I’ll be in touch soon! ![]()
v. v. sweet!
Too cute! Look at those baby blues!
Great shots - she is a beauty!
Winter’s On Its Way
And how do I know? Well, after spending a long and lazy Thanksgiving weekend in Burnet, Texas, overlooking Lake Buchanan, I managed to come back with a little bag of proof.
Some types of vegetation are thriving,

while others are struggling to get by.

Comfort food leads to winter weight, but aren’t we secretly okay with those extra few pounds? It is so worth it!

The wind whistles and gives me bad hair days, but it’s chilly slap gives me the right to wear fabulous new outerwear and winter accessories. Bonus!

How do I really know that winter is almost here? It is almost too cold to enjoy a sunset. Almost. But, not quite.

beautiful fotos…your email and number got deleted…write me again dawlin…..i have much to tell you and i miss you terribly……..love and hugs, faith
Faith!!! Yahoo has been sucking my emails up into cyberspace. I have been trying to email you, but I guess you haven’t gotten my messages. Try to email me at juxta.posed@yahoo.com, and we will go toe to toe, Yahoo to Yahoo! Hugs!

Headin’ to the Hill Country!
Tomorrow morning, we will leave for Burnet to visit Bobby’s folks for Turkey Day. I am so excited to see everyone and to gobble gobble up the tasty treats!
Email will be spotty at best, and phone reception will be next to zilch. Hang in there, if you need something, as I will be back Sunday and will return emails Monday.
I’m so thankful for everyone who has supported me thus far. My family, friends, clients, and even blog-stalkers are so incredibly important to me and I wish ALL of you a Happy Thanksgiving!
Hugs!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! I’m thankful for you!!!
Have a great trip and a Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy ThanksGiving!!
HOLD ME (accountable)
OK. Here it is. I am broadcasting My 101 in 1001 for all to see. Hopefully knowing that YOU know what I am supposed to be working on, I will keep my nose to the grindstone!
Wish me luck!
Kate, I am beginning to realize what I like so much about your work. I think it’s your eagerness in engaging with your subjects, be they brides or cupcakes. I love reading your blog and am so in awe of all you’ve accomplished as a photographer so far, and I know there’s so much more to come.
Ok I am tired just reading everything on your list. And realizing I am much to afraid to make one up for myself.
It has been forever since I have talked to you (other then your blog where you do all of the talking) and I miss you terribly. Hope all is well! Holla atcha sista!
America’s Next Sweetheart
Meet Corrie. She’s the sister of George, Tom, & Bess, and the final Newman offspring photo session for 2007. She may be last in line, but she is certainly not least. Tall, poised, with model-like qualities, Corrie could be commanding in nature, but she is actually quite the opposite. She is kind, gentle, and even slips back into the quiet spaces that hide behind all of the hoopla that comes with being in a family of 6. However, Corrie comes alive when on the stage, where she can show off her talents and even be a little commanding, even if only for a role.
Thanks to Brenham High School’s kickin’ Drama Director, Andy Hart, we got to sneak on stage and steal the spotlight for Corrie’s session. So, watch out Laura Bell Bundy and Kristin Chenoweth, Corrie is hot on your heels!

After stealing the spotlight, we drove out to Corrie’s grandmother’s house for some outdoor fun.

Corrie thought I was a hoot!

Here is precious Archie with his loving owner.

Thanks for the fun sesh, Corrie! See you soon!
I really like the one looking through the tree branch being all desaturated and stuff. way cool!
These are so fun, and not typical…which I am guessing is her!
Great job and this family’s dentist deserves a shout out, too!
They all have such radiant smiles!
Love your photographs - you have a great eye, and it’s so much fun to see glimpses of Brenham. I went to high school with these great looking kids’ uncle- and with Andy Hart’s big sister. Very small world.
[…] grown up before my very eyes. I cannot believe that Corrie is SUCH a lady. Not a girl…a LADY. Last year, she was definitely embarking on that territory, but now, she has claimed lovely ladyland as her own, and is WORKIN’ IT! She’s still […]
I can’t remember how I found your site, but I’ve been reading for months — I admire your skill with the camera (your photos are fabulous!) and I’m hoping someday I can shoot pictures like you do.
