“I Can Kiss the Zebras Tomorrow, Maybe.”
Last Saturday, we took Millie to the Fort Worth Zoo for the first time. Though she has been to my family’s ranch and Bobby’s parents’ ranch, she has never been around such exotic animals as zebras and monkeys and lions, oh my!
I am so glad I was actually able to document her reactions to each twist and turn of our adventure. She was a little tentative at first, but gradually took it all in and decided she was pretty in love with all of the creatures before her. What an incredible experience it was, looking at these gorgeous animals through the eyes of a 2 year old. It made me stop and revisit the notion that our world is a miraculous place to live, and we should all aim a bit higher to keep it that way.
Bobby and Mills head down to the first of the animals.

Moving veeeeerrrry slowly toward the fence.

My very own little monkey.

Bobby and Millie try to sound like an elephant. Does he? Oh yeah. Does she? Not so much. =)

Mills the fashionista is checking out another zoo visitor’s get-up. “Ooooo, I know she isn’t wearing that! That is so not Raven!”

I am IN LOVE with these two crazy kids.

For Mother’s Day, will somebody order me this in a 24×36 inch canvas? Sigh. My family rocks.

Too bad it seems Millie doesn’t have much personality
Love the pics, she is just adorable!!
Millie is INCREDIBLE!! Must have gotten it from her mother!
What great photos of Mills and Bobbo. We love you all.

JP Vernacular :: Lesson One

I love your daughter’s vernacular!! Haha, this totally made my night ![]()
Michael Owen :: Part Two
Here is the last of my commercial shoot for Mike. Wow. Portrait of a biker. COOLNESS!

Meet his darling family!

Thanks for choosing me for the gig, Mike. It has been an honor!
Live to Ride…Ride to Live.
Here are the shots of Mike’s group on their bikes in North Collin County. From the winding roads to the beautiful day to the cool, cool people I got to meet, I was in hog heaven at this shoot!

You are not going to believe this…BUT…this is my grandparents ranch in McKinney! The broken, bum fence…covered area, stone columns, wood front door…probably LOTS of bird poop! Wow! What a small world!
I. Heart. Motorcycles.
Why, you ask? I dunno. It’s not even like I have ever ridden one before. Actually, they kinda scare me…and I like it. They are sleek, fast, and even have accessories. What’s not to love?
It was so much fun reading all of the patches and stickers on the vests and helmets of Mike’s gang.

One of the guys had the most rockin’ bike I have ever seen. We are talking American Bandstand ROCKIN’, peeps!

So true…so true.

The detail work on the Harleys is to die for. Such craftsmanship!

Can you smell the leather? Mmmmm.

Can you feel the wind?

Can you hear the roar? Kinda makes ya want to go for a ride, huh?

so cool.
you rocked this out kate. awesome shoot!
Oooh! The fringe is my FAVORITE!
Michael Owen :: Part One
A few months ago, Mike hired me to do the photography for his new brochures and advertising materials. He has a very interesting approach which we both felt was a great fit for Juxtapose Photography. As a financial planner, he is a very professional guy. However, a large part of who he is lies in his hobby…motorcycles. He actually hired me for TWO shoots so that he could have more materials to market to bikers. VERY COOL and ORIGINAL. Our shoots were tons o’ fun, and it was a pleasure to work with Mike and his friends.
Here are a few of my faves from the first shoot at his office.

Stay tuned for some super fun bike portfolio work as well as Mike and his posse ridin’.
good work, that second batch of color ones and the b/w one ahead of it look like they would go perfect in a brochure!

Noopsy Malone Mefford :: For Erin Vey, Who Needed a Dog Fix Today
This is just for Erin Vey. She’s my homegirl, and only the best dog photographer out there. She lives in Seattle and rocks the hizzie. She wanted to see a pic of Noopsy, and while I should have a recent one handy, I don’t. I just got a new iMac and now that I have 2 computers, files are everywhere. Pardon my mess!
Here is the dog I love most. He is my firstborn child and the wedding present Bobby and I gave each other. And yes, we let him sleep in the bed with us. We are total suckers for this little guy!
Stay tuned for tons of pics of The Noopser next month. It’s his 6th birthday!
It’s about time!!!! I love him. One ear up and obviously waiting for a cookie ![]()
Hagen said she can’t believe Noopsy is 6! She said that even though she is almost 11 she will still eat all his birthday cake, no matter how old she gets!
OMIGOSH! How come we’ve never seen this boy?! Next time you’re here you have to photograph our Reilly Dog. What a pair those two would be. I’m in love double.

Guess What I Did Last Weekend

Did you buy a Harley?
I’m assuming that because this post is filed in “commercial” that it was less of a personal venture and more of a super-exciting-and-amazingly-fun shoot for some hugely famous company/publication…
Mindy :: Unbridaled
Miss Mindy is gearing up for her big day, that being May 17, 2008. She and Christopher have a wonderfully intimate and meaningful day planned, and it has been so fun hearing about all of the details as they have put all of the pieces together.
Last Sunday, Mindy and her entourage (2 beautiful bmaids + 1 hot hair stylist) met up with me and we tore up the town…well, as much as you can tear it up without actually tearing the dress up.
If I do say so myself, this session turned out great!
Their wedding design revolves around reds and oranges, so voila! A red building built JUST for Mindy. Well, you can pretend.

I am just loving these next 4 shots. This is a little detailed wall outside of a dentist’s office.
Ya would have never guessed, would ya?

Hot damn!

Mindy has a very wisecrack-y way about her, which I just love.
What I adore the most though, is when she laughs at herself and crinkles her nose. Super cute!

Taken inside my office building, I think this one has a definite vintage vibe.
Love the reference to the new world she is about to enter!

Thanks so much for a funtastic sesh, Min! See you very soon!
You look absolutely beautiful…or should I say stunning!! Perfect pictures for a perfect girl!
Love ya,
Mom

Damn, Kate! Those are stunning. I especially like the last one. What a beautiful bride she is and will be!
(It’s looks so warm in Texas… I am jealous!)
Mindy - your bridal pictures are absolutely breathtaking - they should be in a magazine. You are going to be SUCH a beautiful bride. Can’t wait to hear all about your special day from your very excited mom.
Congratulations, Nikki (friend of your mother)
That pic of you giggling…with your nose crinkled up reminds me of the song Bubbly…by Colbie Caillat… love it!!! Love you Min….Mom

Go ahead and say it yourself, Kate.: Great pictures. The red wall is super and the last shot is both clever and apt. If this is what you do with bronchitis, every bride should hope you arrive with a cough.
Mary Ann
well said, mary ann. i agree.
Mindy, your mom posted the link and all I can say is wow! You are gorgeous and so are the pictures. Best wishes to you and your future husband!
Mindy, More people are anticipating your wedding than you know. The engagement photographs were beaurtiful, but these are stunning! Dancing in front of the barn- joy! At the aqua door- amazing! And your Entrance is exquisite! Enjoy these hurried times; you’ll cherish the memories. All our best wishes, Trena, friend of your mom ![]()
Donkey Groomer/Photographer/Glamour Girl
2 days ago, while both of us were having a sick day (Mills—ear infection + breathing issues, Me—friggin’ bronchitis-YUM!), my favorite girl and I were playing in our game room. I asked Millie what she wanted to be when she grows up, and rather than telling me, she demonstrated.

she must be like the most precious thing ever… seriously. love that kid!
A haircutting princess photographer?! Perfect!
The girl has it figured out: take pictures of beautifully groomed horses, have a wonderful time and get rich.
Those are MY PRECIOUS, CREATIVE, FUNNY, ADORABLE GIRLS - Kate and Millie….I love you both so much!
Love,
Mom
Where are the pics of Momma? Get Bobby to turn the camera on you!!
