Why I Do What I Do

Well, it could really take about a week to explain all of my idiosyncrasies (yep, I’m a weird one), but what I am specifically referring to is why I photograph WEDDINGS.

Sure, the out of this world event design, the flowers I have never even heard of, the food that is almost too pretty to eat, and the music that pulls me into each wonderful moment…yeah, all of that is pretty sweet. There are many factors by which I could measure my success…

Do I care if I make millions? No.
Do I care if I have thousands of blog hits a day? No.
Do I need to see my name in lights? No.
Do I have to be seen with this person or that to consider myself a success? NO WAY, JOSE!

What keeps me comin’ back for more is…wait for it…THE PEOPLE. That’s what I measure my success by…THE PEOPLE.

I feel so completely blessed to have my business right where I want it, people-wise. I get to work with THE COOLEST PEOPLE all the time. The brides and grooms OF COURSE are super badass, but I also adore the process of getting to know the family members, the Uncle Walters, the sister Kristys, the best friend from college Johns. My business is at a point where MY KIND OF PEOPLE (whimsically stylish and heartfelt…all in the same instance!) are contacting me. Each couple I meet, I become more and more excited by their personalities. For instance, October 4th’s wedding is one that will stick with me for quite some time. Why? THE PEOPLE inspired the hell out of me.

So, thank you to all of my clients, past, present, and future. I truly love every kernel of your weirdness. I love seeing you dance with each other and laugh and cry and just be beautiful humans. Keep keepin’ it real, yo! You inspire me!
