Unavailable and Unfabulous.
I’m bummed. Within 24 hours, I have managed to break my iPhone (3rd drop on the floor’s a charm) AND my Gucci sunglasses that Bobby gave me as a birthday present. I am leaving to go get a new phone, but until I get everything set up, I will be using email and sporting Walgreen’s granny sunglasses. Sweet. Could be worse. I could live in a 3rd world country and NOT be a spoiled American. Hmmm. Wonder how that would play out. ;-)
i’d be more upset about the iPhone…ouch
Sarah :: Hot Mommy
My absolute best friend in the whole world is about to have her first child…a beautiful bouncing baby boy. I cannot wait to meet him and shower him with hugs and kisses and celebrate his arrival, but until then, I’m gonna celebrate her. She’s positively breathtaking, isn’t she? Sarah makes it look way too easy.
Just darling!

See if you notice the little boy in the background…Sarah’s future!

Work it, sister!

Stunning.

So cute!

Because of Sarah’s dedication to eating oh-so-healthily, this bambino is MADE WELL.

Congrats, lady! I love ya!
makes me want to be preggers again. don’t tell randy!
lovely lovely lovely!
Oh my goodness. She is absolutely darling and these are awesome maternity portraits (which I usually hate). Can I have her hair please too? Thank you.
Awesomeness.
Sarah, you are both gorgeous and radiant at the same time!!! Kate….these are absolutely stunning!
L-O-V-E I-T! How precious and I can’t wait to meet him either!!! Absolutely Beautiful!!!
[…] Sarah and Scott are doing a great job…I am beyond impressed with their natural parenting ability. They don’t need much advice, but I am so blessed to be a part of his early days by giving them a helping hand and capturing the emotions that come along with this whirlwind of milestones. […]
8 Wedding Planning Tips from the Movies
Yeah, I totally swiped this from BuzzSugar, but I thought you needed to see it in full effect. Their writers over there are brills, and I loved this little collection of tips they assembled. Much better than the crappy advice I see in magazines and on traditional wedding websites! Enjoy!
DO…finalize the divorce of one marriage before your next wedding.

DO…have a serious conversation about sexual orientation well before the BIG DAY.

DO…limit yourself to one muscle relaxer.

DO…plan a tricky question to ask possible wedding crashers.

DO…get a paternity test, if necessary.

DON’T…prepare for the church kiss by kissing another guy.

DO…set aside some bail money.

DON’T…invite your crazy neighbor, allow your father to carry a gun, give in to having animal cake, etc.

May the force be with you as you plan!
This totally cracks me up… can I also say that you may want to limit yourself to one of just about anything? Muscle relaxers… Zanax… etc… ! :o)
Holly :: Unbridaled!
Holly and I go way back. We met at TCU the first day we both joined our sorority and have been tight ever since. She is just that kind of friend that you can totally count on and totally be yourself around and she’ll still love you. Plus, she was the one responsible for getting Bobby and I together, so I owe her a ton. She’s also Millie’s “Aunt”, and a great one at that. Her warmth and sense of humor draw everyone in…especially her super cool fiance, Nathan.
They are getting hitched this weekend, and I am photographing it all! I can’t wait for this shindig…I am ecstatic it is finally here! To mark the occasion, we did an Unbridaled sesh a couple of weeks ago, complete with multiple accessories and an adorable little ballerina. What a blast it was, and Holly was workin’ it!

Holly’s dad is an exec at John Deere, so we just died when we found this gem.
Doesn’t Holly look mah-ve-lous?!

Stunning…I love this set!

The cutest. Ever.

Except this little number might even be cuter. Just maybe.

Hello, Hot Stuff!

Just freakin’ gorgeous!

Thanks for the fantabulous session, Holly, and I can’t wait till Saturday!!!
thanks so much Kate! I especially love the ones of me and Millie, she will be an adorable flower girl!

She’s Got My Numbah
She’s almost at the age when I can give her cash for her smiles, but until then, I’ll just have to keep using my charm.
Time is running out, and apparently, so is my charm.

Millie is so precious….she’s just like her mom!!!
That look is killer! I just love that girl!
She is just too darn cute!
Candy and ice cream seem to work well when we bribe our kids for smiles. ![]()

Carlie + Tom :: The Sendoff!
The morning after the wedding, Carlie + Tom hosted a brunch for their guests at the Hangar Hotel in Fredericksburg. The hotel was the hot spot that morning, complete with mimosas, comfort food, and good friends. Plus, if you wanted to, you could peek through the blinds to see the planes coming and going!
After the grub, Carlie + Tom left in Carlie’s dad’s plane to start their honeymoon before the real honeymoon. These people know how to travel, y’all.
So so so cute, right?

Carlie chats up her Vandy homegirls.

Here they come!

Mom got this shot below…it is definitely a favorite exit shot!

Bye, bye!

Muah dahlings! Can’t wait to hear all about the travels!
How funny - I had a friend from college do the SAME exit (with her dad’s plane) at the same place just a few years ago! : ) We were there as guests - definitely a cool way to exit!
What a beautiful weekend! Thank you so much for capturing everything, Kate. You are the best!
I mean SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?! We have looked at each of these blog posts 100 times, and can’t believe this was actually OUR wedding!!! Kate, you did such an incredible job, and I couldn’t be happier with the excitement, love, fun and friendship that you captured in every picture. Everytime we see them, we get a huge smile on our faces… We love you to pieces and can’t wait to see you again!
Carlie + Tom :: Hitched!
Get ready for the monster of all blog posts.
I seriously don’t think I have ever crammed so many images into ONE POST. I am ecstatic to share Carlie + Tom’s Fredericksburg, Texas wedding with you..finally. This wedding was an amazing experience for so many reasons.
Reason ONE: Carlie and Tom are tried and true and really deserve to have this celebration. After years of long distance love from Iraq, sweetheart Tom is finally back in the States to be with his sweet, sweet girl, Carlie.
Reason TWO: The guests were out-of-this-world, insanely full of life. Like aliens. I’ve never seen more hugs and smiles and whoops and hollers and dancing and joie de vivre in all of my 24 years. (24, yeah right! Fooled ya, huh?)
Reason THREE: The absolute DREAM TEAM of vendors came together to make this wedding a masterpiece. Please check out these fabulous event industry champions when you have a second.
Event Planning :: Sarah Miller of Caplan Miller Events
Venues :: Grape Creek Vineyard and Hoffman Haus
Floral Design and Decor :: David Kurio Designs
Catering :: Kurant Events
Event Production & Lighting :: FILO Designs
Videography :: Ladyflash
Take a deep breath, and dive in.
I love how this image illustrates the utter chaos that happens during the getting ready process on the wedding day.
We have cell phone drama, blind champagne pouring, hair, makeup…pandemonium.

Carlie talks to her guy.

Gotta love those camo Manolos. Carlie represents for her man in uniform!

Watching the guests arrive, Carlie gets a little nervous…good nervous, though. =-)

She sees Tom! She sees Tom! Eeeeeeee!

I love doing different things with portraits.
Sometimes, you are locked up in a room and can’t get out or the guests will see the bride, so we just capture that moment in a more artistic way, like this.

Carlie’s fantastic father, Joe, escorts her down the stairs to get ready for that aisle!

The doors open…

The bagpiper plays…

And here comes the bride!

Aren’t the hats DIVINE? Such a classy classy wedding.

The way these two look at each other, there is no doubt that they are made to be together.

They’re married, so next step is the bustle. Can’t really groove till ya have that train tacked up.

That look! It makes my heart go —PING— every time I see this image.

Arriving at the Hoffman Haus looking very dashing.

My favorite portrait of these lovebirds is this one.

Bouquet hangs out at hat check. Love the details of this wedding!

Married man.

Isn’t this wedding STUNNING?

Father Joe makes a surprise singing performance during dinner and the crowd goes wild.

WILD!

First dance for the newlyweds.

Tom and mother of the bride, Pat, are no strangers to the dance floor.

See what I mean? Absolutely wonderfully full of life.

And so the day ends, but the love stays for all eternity. Yep, I’m a dork.
But I love this couple and their fam and friends and am just so thrilled that I was able to be a part of this time in their lives.

Thanks so much, Carlie + Tom, for being my new friends. You guys rock the hizzie!
Absolutely stunning! This should be in a magazine.
shut up. shut up. SHUT UP!!!!! your best yet! and yes, i think that “team” did an unbelievable job (of course you are on the “dream team” too!) l love the last one, he’s kissin’ her, she’s diggin’ it, and her hair is starting to fall- that, my friend, is a sign of a good time! love love love!
Kate….You’re just an amazing artist!!! I can so feel the connection in this collection! You captured each tender and heartfelt moment of this fabulous and fun wedding weekend! I love it!!!!
These are ALL fantastic, but I especially LOVE the ceremony shots. They are just gorgeous! That last picture is also just priceless!!
I forgot to mention that you get the biggest raves EVER for capturing that shot of Tom with Carlie’s mom on the dance floor. My God, that’s amazing!!!
Stacey is all wrong-the worst picture of the whole lot-please erase it from the group. Otherwise, they are all fanfastic and so reflective of the wedding. I agree that my favorite phote is on the bench. The pictures in the song event really says it all. Thanks for doing that. Question-when you have a grouping of pics, can you enlarge them? I was unable to do that, but I am not the best computer nerd. Thanks again and we are so glad you were there with us to enjoy the fun and love.
You obviously had a wonderful day and such great photos. Thank you so much for sending them to me. I am so sorry I couldn’t be there to join in all the celebrations and particularly to hear Joe sing!!! I look forward to seeing you in London in June.
Wow Kate! I sure wished I would have had you to do my wedding! I absolutely love all of these! Can we get married all over again!?!
All I can say is: Awesome…. start to finish… I feel like we are reliving the weekend over and over. Thank you so much little lady! PS: Don’t you dare take that picture of my mom off this post! haha! It is my FAVORITE!!! LOVE YOU!
Carlie + Tom :: Rehearsed
This was, by far, the coolest rehearsal dinner I have ever witnessed. The fabulous Caplan Miller Events‘ Sarah Miller made sure of that, along with Carlie and her fabulous mother, Pat. Friends were welcomed from Washington state, Tennessee, and all across Texas at this wonderfully down home gathering in one of the hill country’s most magical spots, Luckenbach. Carlie, Tom, and their festive friends and fam made sure to get the party started right! What a weekend…and it all began with this.
Are you in heaven yet? I can’t tell you how much I love Luckenbach.

The details were spot-on for this venue. Sarah and her team really rocked it out.

Carlie’s hilarious cousin, Courtney holds the mic for Carlie’s sister, Barrett.

So many hilarious stories were recalled from the past…I think Tom made this toaster get his facts straight!

Do you love it, or do you LOVE IT?

Carlie’s dad, Joe, has a fantastic voice, and lead the dancing part of the evening with his rendition of “Luckenbach, Texas“.

These folks got their groove on, but they had to save a little energy for what was to come…stay tuned!

wow!!!!these pictures gave me goosebumps for some reason!!!!!!
I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!
they are just simply AWESOME!!!!!
All I can muster is a WOW!
My husband and I got married at Luckenbach in October. It is also where we met. If you go to the patio in front of the dance hall, the brick in the far left hand corner by the building is ours. It reads, “Josh and Shanon met, danced & fell in love 11/25/06 married here on 10/18/08.” It’s one of our favorite places. We are stationed in Maryland now and far from home but we cannot wait to get back home to TX and visit Luckenbach again. Congrats to you both! Thanks for bringing back the memories! Great pics!
i am a BIG FAN of this wedding already! love love love it! clearly…”ain’t nobody feelin’ no pain”
one of my favs is the gate that is cracked open-makes me smile!
What a great set of photos….all those true Texas details….fab location….and fab session. I am thinking its one of my favs (well after Candice’s engagement photos.)
HI! I love your pictures! You guys are so so so cute
How is life back in the real world?
Real Nice. Real Nice.
Let’s go to Luckenbach, Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys…
I’m in the “kitchen” cookin’ up something real nice from Carlie + Tom’s 3 day wedding extravaganza.
I’ll be back with 3 posts—1 for each day. Pretend you’re in Luckenbach till I get back, ‘kay?
Give a kick to the brick “Josh & Shanon met, danced and fell in love here…” for me! Can’t wait to see your pics.
Yee-haw!!! ![]()
hurry it up already! ![]()
Second Shooting With a Mentor
Back in February, I had the great pleasure of working with the leader of the Foundation Workshop, Huy Nguyen of f8 Studio at a wedding. He is not only brilliant, but he gives so much of himself so that other photographers can grow and evolve under his tutelage. Plus, he’s funny as hell!
Because the event lasted from early morning till midnight, I was given a shift to cover the second part of the day. I missed out on a few early parts of the ceremony, but what I got to witness was truly amazing. It is so invigorating and inspiring to be around cultures, rituals, and traditions to which I am not accustomed. I turn into this hyper little kid in a candy store and want to learn about every last detail, and then photograph it! Here is what I captured.
The couple, Sujata and Anand, exited their ceremony…that’s about when I showed up for the day.

The two lovebirds were tied together by this pink scarf.

After the large ceremony, the families gathered for another small ceremony.
It was tight quarters in the hotel room, but everyone was so wonderfully warm and gracious and welcoming!

The groom’s sweet mother speaks lovingly to Sujata. This has to be one of my favorites.

Two ladies pass around coconuts, cashews, and almonds.

This guy was full of smiles the whole day!

After struggling to remove a traditional bracelet from Anand’s wrist, the couple rejoices!
This is one of my favorite photographs ever.

Everyone tried to figure out how to set the watch Sujata gave Anand…they were baffled for a good 15 minutes.

Sujata gets ready for the evening’s reception.

Another favorite is this image of Sujata’s mom helping her by cinching her skirt.
Looks like a tough job!

Sujata’s dad sees her all dolled up.

Sujata’s mom arranged accessories.

Stunning.

At the reception, everyone was dolled up!

Anand’s parents toast the couple.

Sujata’s beautiful cousin recalls childhood memories.

The newlyweds toast their families and guests.

The proud mamas celebrate a job well done.

These are fantastic Kate!!! Nice!!!!!
absolutely gorgeous! You captured the beauty and emotions so well!
wow!!!!!
AMAZING!!!!!
great shots!!!!!
TOTAL EYE CANDY!!!!! the colors, the people, the bling, the tradition….more please!
Love the pictures~ I can’t wait for August to come around…. You’re gonna be great!
You’re still pretty fabulous!!!
