Jenny + Chris :: Engaged!
Next on the list is the fabulous couple Jenny + Chris. Sweet Jenny hails from TX, but while traveling and studying in Prague, met the charming Irishman, Chris. During a long distance relationship across Europe, they fell madly in love with each other, and eventually Jenny made it over to Ireland to be with her guy. (Who could resist that accent?!) After growing together in Ireland, they have literally JUST moved to Texas, and will be married in October in Austin.
A few weeks ago, on one very hot Austin evening, Jenny, Chris, and I met up at the Hotel Saint Cecilia in SoCo for an super cool bohemian engagement shoot and had a (as Jenny would put it) “lovely” time getting to know each other. Feast your eyes on the results!

Svetha + Chase :: Engaged!
This has definitely been the year of clients hiring me over email and phone from all over the world, and Svetha and Chase are the perfect representatives of that. Currently living in Beijing, China, Svetha and Chase grew up in the same neighborhood in Austin. They went to the same high school, and didn’t even hang out until after college! Chase says Svetha was the gorgeous popular cheerleadery type, and he was, well, not. However, if there was a popular table for almost twentytothirtysomethings, Chase would be at the head. He makes his sweetheart (and his photographer…seriously, I was laughing so hard I was shaking the camera!) giggle till she climbs out of her pretty shell and she offers a calming presence to his bold flavor in return. They are the perfect compliment to each other, and I couldn’t be more excited to photograph their 2 day Hindu wedding in a few weeks!!!
For the first part of their engagement session, we took their dog, Lola, down to the greenbelt area that is in the neighborhood in which they were raised. Talk about gorgeous Austin landscapes…this did not disappoint. We got their around 7:15am, and the light was incredible!

These are so cute, Kate. Makes me want to be a kid again. We had some tree houses around our neighborhood. They were the best for getting into mischief.
Conley is 6 Months!
One of my sorority sisters from TCU has one of the (seriously, sincerely, genuinely…true story) most affable babies I have ever met/photographed. There is no doubt in my mind that this kid is gonna have an easy life. She’s pretty. She’s happy. She’s funny. She’s smart. She’s got mad tummy time skillz. It doesn’t get much better than that, folks.

Jackie + Justin :: The Slideshow
OK, I know it is a little backwards to post the show before the still images (at least I usually do it the opposite way), but because I now hafta do things on my laptop (I got VERY spoiled by my iMac) and I don’t want to make Justin and Jackie wait any longer, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!!
After a very hectic spring and early summer wedding season, I was almost to the point of no return. Leave it to this sweet couple, their ah-mazing family, their “as-rowdy-as-the-day-is-long” friends, and a little sprinkle of magic I like to call new shoes, to reignite my passion for my job.

My hard drive died on my iMac. Yeah, you heard me right. On my MAC. You know, made by Apple…the people who are perfection in the computer world. Thought it was incapable of happening, but I guess I am wrong. It’s dunzo. Dead as a doornail.
So…what does that mean for you? Well, since I am leaving on Friday for a 9 day vacation (well, I actually will be shooting 2 engagement sessions and checking email, so I suppose I am working a bit), you can expect limited blog posts and a delay on discs getting to you via mail. Dang it, dang it, dang it. I totally feel like the boys from Office Space right now…

sorry to hear about your hard drive…. but in mac’s defense, they didn’t make the hard drive. Most likely its a Maxtor hard drive, which tend to suck. sorry again Kate, - nic
So sorry Kate! Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago while editing my first wedding! Luckily, Apple took care of the problem within two days. Hope your fix is quick and easy too.
Kelly :: Hot Mommy
Bump alert! Kelly and Jason, 2 of my most favoritest videographers ever, met up with me a couple of weeks ago to sweat, eat melty ice cream, discover the meaning of their baby’s name, get reprimanded by a pimple-faced teenager in Barnes & Noble, and sweat some more. Good times! We ended up hanging for a couple of hours and I am so glad I got to know them better…they’re my kinda peeps!
His name means WHAT?????????
If I remember correctly, it was something along the lines of Beautiful Swamp Thing.
