Bag it Up!

You have NO idea how talented Maile Wilson of Relish Photography is. Not only is she the best portrait photographer in San Antonio, Texas, but she is a fantastic writer, comedienne, and just an all around GREAT GIRL and FRIEND. Just when I thought she couldn’t rule the world any more than she already does, she goes and does this.

The day of stuffing my big ol’ camera + its big ol’ lenses into my Gucci bag are DUNZO.

Now, thanks to Maile, I can be practical and stylish all in the same breath INSTEAD OF:

1) Getting gum/lipstick/random bottom-of-the-bag-dirt all up in my camera’s grill.
2) Busting my Gucci’s seams.
3) Looking like a nerd with a dorky black boring camera bag.

Times They Are A-Changin’

Are you loving this fall weather??? I feel like someone is trying to rip my flip flops off (like baby Dash does here)!

Along with the change in weather (however fleeting it may be), things are changing here at Juxtapose Photography. What’s changing? Well, specifically, the Juxtapose Photography part. As soon as my BRAND NEW BLOG is ready (should be a couple of days), I will be debuting my company’s new direction under the name Kate Mefford Photography.

Why the change? I’m just ready to BE ME. After a couple of years of debating whether or not to do this, I just don’t want to be behind a company name anymore. I’m never expanding or hiring other photographers and I have no plans to change my boutique status. Plus, next summer marks my debut into gallery showings of my portfolio work (my work that does not involve weddings or babies), and that is a route I will definitely pursue. I have always been a “one and the same” kinda girl, so no matter which type of project I am working on, I will just be Kate Mefford. ME. Your photographer and your friend. An artist. A goofball. A free spirit. A girl who loves to shop at Anthropologie and beat boys in the college football pool.

I have so many fun things to show you on the new blog.

Escuela, Por Favor.

For the past MONTH, every.single.day., Millie has been asking if she would be going to school “in the morning”. And every time she asked, I had to say no. (Damn that late Labor Day!)

UNTIL…yesterday. I got to say YES. Thank sweet baby Jesus, this morning we got to pull out the Hello Kitty lunchbox and the $100 monogrammed nap-mat that has never seen sleep. Back to the grind. I made her an avocado sandwich (which she requested and then proceeded to not eat…doesn’t she know they are hella EXPENSIVE?!), found her pink poodle stuffed animal to coordinate with her new first day of school-Paris-pink poodle dress (she just HAD to have everything match), and schlepped five minutes later than the schedule allowed to school.

My full of personality princess finally got her wish.

The sugar on top of it all?
Sammy’s in her class again!
