Tate Financial Group’s 30th Anniversary Shindig
Last Thursday, I photographed an event for Bobby’s firm. His boss, Darrell Tate, has been in the financial industry for 30 years, and that is a reason to celebrate!
Darrell’s wife and daughter, Erica, spearheaded a group to plan this party, and I think it went beautifully. It was a warm atmosphere with comfort food and fun decor…you can’t ask for much more.
A special shout out goes to Emily Youngblood, the event planner for that evening, as well as Lite Dallas, Edwards Floral, and Gil’s Elegant Catering for their work in making the Cotton Mill shine!
Suzanne and Erica, Darrell’s daughters are the sweetest. This makes me wish I had a sister!

How gorgeous does Erica look? Smokin’! She works with Bobby and Darrell and is such a fun chick.

The details were so fun to shoot!

LOVE these lounge areas.

The moments were heartfelt, and there were several generations of McKinney’s leaders in attendance making them happen.

Darrell and “his bride”…

Millie made a card for Darrell and put it in his hand while he was talking to a VIP. She looks so proud. =)

They had a super cool hand rolled cigar station!

I have to end this post with bottoms up! What a great event!

That looks like a VERY fun party captures by a VERY fun photographer! Seriously, people in Texas really know how to do it up right. And I think you are such a fantastic party photographer! Love the details.
I love Emily Youngblood!! She went to school with me at Austin College. I’m so glad ya’ll connected. She’s great.
Kate, you always take photos of the most fabulous parties! Wonderful job! Looks like a great celebration!
Great shots - love the lighting in so many of them.
Chef Millie’s Turns 3! Par-tay!
We kicked it old-school for Millie’s third birthday party. There were no bounce houses or celebrity guests or new cars or diamond rings. We focused on family and friends and sugar….lots and lots of sugar. Of course I didn’t get any, but photographing kept me busy, thank God.
Held at our home away from home, Spoons Cafe, Millie’s party was chock full of good times, including cupcake decorating, dancing, drinkin’, and eatin’. Here are my faves from that day…there were a ton of fabulous moments!

It was great seeing Bobby’s cousin, Natalie, who came in from Burnet.
Millie thinks Nat hung the moon!

Toni from Spoons did an amazing job on the giant cupcake birthday cake!

Presents, glorious presents!

Our good friend Jenn helps her son James get all chef-like.

Bobby’s mom is a hoot, and so is Millie’s buddy, Joshua! Crackin’ me up all over the place!

Millie was impressed by the fire. I hope that isn’t a sign for what’s to come in her teenage years.

Soooo adorable. I love how sweet Bobby is to our girl. They have the most precious relationship.

Not so great of me, but at least we got one of all three of us!

Millie, aka Shirley Temple, put on one heck of an impromptu performance for the guests.
The entire square footage of Spoons was her stage!

Mills just loves her Uncle Joe.

Cupcake decorating was the main event.

We were so glad to get to hang with Matthew and his mommy, Jackie.
We have known them since our baby playgroup days!

Oh, the cuteness!

This is one of Millie’s BFFs, Harley. She is a whirling dervish who we just lurve so very much!

Very very sneaky (said with a Spanish accent).

Cousin Jack was gettin’ his grub on!

Uncle Scott and Aunt Sarah feed Mills one last little bit of sugar for the road.

What a party! Not sure if we will be able to top that next year!
What a fun, fun, party….with our girl, Mills, as the birthday star!!! You captured it all, Kate the Great!
That looks like such a great party! My girls would love that! The cupcake cake is awesome! I’ll have to show my Mom that one. She’s our birthday cake baker. I love the cupcake theme though with all the polka dots and such. Definitely a birthday to remember!
OMG this party is AMAZING! And Millie is just precious
I definitely can’t wait to see how you try to top this next year GOOD LUCK! LOL
We do love to party with Mills! Great shots Kate. Love to all, GranLyn
awesome idea, yummy, I’m such a cupcake lover!
That looks like way too much fun. And is making me so, so hungry for cupcakes! I need to get down to McKinney. HAPPIEST of birthdays, Mills!
OMG! I think that is like the best I’ve ever looked in a pic!! The party was a blast and I loved everything about it! You’re awesome!
Thank’s for such a great shindig! I think the sugar is still working its way out of our system.
Great pics! We had a great time! Thanks for inviting us! Millie looked like she was having so much fun too! I know she had a blast!
Looks like Millie had a great time!! We missed you this weekend at Alli’s wedding. Let’s try and talk soon…since I am unemployed I have lots of time. LOL!
Philip’s Fabulous Fiftieth
Ask me what my favorite event has been in my career as a photographer. Go ahead. Ask.
I will tell you that it was Philip’s birthday party that went down last Saturday.
The location—vacation-worthy
The food—a mathematical equation involving art and insanely delectable ingredients
The decor—meticulously arranged and coordinated to create the chicest, most comfortable place to par-tay
The guest of honor—a cool dude
I would love to thank the team from Caplan Miller Events for their amazing work designing and coordinating the party of the century, as well as for recruiting a dream team of vendors.
David Kurio blew the roof off with his stellar floral arrangements. Howard from First In Last Out Designs established an out of this world experience for the guests with his lighting design. The Four Seasons had the guests fully sated in the catering department with their picture-perfect eats. Outstanding work, guys!
Now, for the images…the best part! Eeeee!
Lake Travis is truly stunning. What a perfect match for David Kurio’s floral designs!

Seriously, the decor was the chicest. I was in awe.

Sweet niblets, the place looked AMAZING.

Yum! Appletinis!

This is a real person. Look closely!

Oh. My. Goodness. The food was beautifully done!

Delish!

We had a brief thunderstorm situation to deal with just before the guests arrived.
The girls at Caplan Miller had it UNDER CONTROL, babes. Let me tell ya!

I could have photographed the guests for at least another complete day.
There were so many fascinating people at this shindig that I was like a little kid in a candy store.

The entertainment features were Mysterious Ways, the Spazmatics (who I want to marry…all of them at once), and SISTER SLEDGE!
It’s a given that people were gettin’ their groove on!

Speech from the birthday boy.

The 15 minute fireworks show was crazy cool. I honestly have never seen a better one in my life.

Amazing. Towels were needed. Loved it and crave more. Maybe next year?

I AM KNOCKED OFF MY FEET…no seriouslyI fell out of my chair when I pulled these up!!! I was even there and I still can’t believe it…goes in my top 10 (maybe even top 5) experiences in my life fo’ sho’! It was a delight to all the senses!!
BTW, CaplanMiller are Monster Gods of Rock AND I could not be any prouder of my little “James Brown” photographer/wife/baby-mama!
