Ethan :: Spring 2009
I can’t believe I am about to do this. I am literally going to post 26 images from, NO, not a wedding…a baby session. Well, he’s not quite a baby, but not yet a kid, but still. Whatever. 26 images is a freakin’ LOT. I’m just in love with this work, and think it is very representative of my style with babies and kids. I suppose it has something to do with his mommy. She and I lived together at TCU for a bit. We ruled. Kate and Kelly are IN, let the fun BEGIN, and all that. So, naturally, I love little Ethan like he is part of the fam. Plus, he is Millie’s future husband. Let’s hope she has a thing for younger guys.
Anywho, Kel came down from Connecticut for Holly’s wedding, and she wanted me to photograph the E-man. We had a blast chasing him all over and watching him explore the surroundings. He is a sweet, darling child with a bright spirit (read: energetic as hell) and killer eyes. I think Kelly and Marshall are in for it. DUNZO. Cooked. Good luck, guys!

Superman!

Kelly’s gorgeous sister, Lauren, came along for some fun!

The E-man loves his Aunt Lauren.

Hot potato!

Oh really? Starting early, huh?

Mommy is from here, E.

Hilarious. His expressions do me in.

Boo!

Are you kidding me with that cuteness???

Mommy snuggles! The best!

Hope to see you two for your August visit. Miss you already! Double muah!
2008 Was My Favorite!
The 2nd year of Juxtapose Photography was phenomenal. I got to meet and learn about so many wonderful people through the lens and face to face. I am the luckiest girl in the world, and here’s the proof! Here is the slideshow of all of my favorite images (both personal and professional) from this past year.
To see the show, please click on the image below or this link! Then, hold your horses for a minute or so and let it load. Then, turn up your speakers and rock and roll!

Awesome Kate! We had so much fun with you in ‘08! Looking forward to ‘09!
What fun! We loved every frame, the music, the talent you display. Most of all though, we love YOU, and MILLIE and BOBBY and the Noops! Congrats on a fabulous year and an even better one for 2009!
Thanks for keeping capturing all of this AND making 2008 not look like the “kick in the crotch” I thought it was!
Sterling Maye is a Newborn!
The Sweet Cheeks. That’s what I call ‘em. The Cheeks family couldn’t be any nicer. They are warm, welcoming, and make ya feel like one of the fam. I have loved getting to know aspiring photographer Tomi through email, and a couple of weeks ago, we finally met “in real life”. As soon as she was preggers, she knew she wanted to do a Juxtapose baby plan, and I was ecstatic. As with all of my clients, it is just so wonderful to work with people who find meaning and so much significance in what I do. That truly inspires me on an artistic level, and allows me to crank out some fun stuff. So thanks, Sweet Cheeks.
Just at the beginning of the holiday season, little Sterling Maye was born. What a precious angel she is! She hardly made a peep and was just so snugglicious. I could photograph her till kingdom come. Plus, her nursery is TO. DIE. FOR. Tomi really outdid herself…no bed-in-a-bag there, folks. She is such a whiz on the sewing machine and it shows!
Here’s the latest Juxtapose newborn, Miss Sterling Maye!

Favorite!

Since Sterling was recently born, she gets to have the Cheeks family birthday sombrero on display in her room.

Oh, the toes! And notice the feet are together…what a little lady!

They already have that fabulous mother-daughter dynamic.

The whole fam is just enamored with Sterling.

Favorite!

Doesn’t this make you want to be held?

Another favorite!

Oh, just gorgeous. Love it love it love it.

Thanks for such a fun session, Sweet Cheeks, and I can’t wait to see you at Sterling’s 6 month mark!
oh my oh my oh my!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!
The one of Chandler with Sterling will forever be a treasure to us!
Can’t wait to see the rest!
EEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! (me squealing)
so sweet! she’s gorgeous. tell me more about this cheek family birthday sombrero! sounds like fun!
it’s our family Birthday hat. Everyone MUST wear it on their birthday, friends and family are subject to the silly non-sense of this fun family tradition! Everyone should have a silly birthday hat!
Sterling is so beautiful…and the photography is stunning. what an amazing and gorgeous family!
These are all so wonderful! I would almost kill to have a photograph of me kissing my fresh from heaven baby girls like the one in this post. I can’t stop looking at it!!!
Oh my goodness, these are so great! She is an absolute angel and you can see where she gets it - what a beautiful, loving family she has! Great GREAT job!
[…] Miss Sterling Maye is just getting cuter and cuter if that is even possible. She is now half a year old, and time is just flying by. It was great to see Tomi and Randy, and to help Chandler celebrate his birthday, and of course, to photograph Sterling’s favorite past-time…a bubble bath! Bubblicious, baby! […]
The Hilarious Heilers
Since I have already shown you Millie’s BFF, Sammy, once or twice, it would only be fair to show you the rest of her fabulous family. It has been such a pleasure becoming friends with them. It’s pretty cool when people are brought together and new friendships are started because of a couple of 3 year old girls.
One thing I love most about the Heilers clan is that they all have the same bone-dry sense of humor.
Gee, I wonder if you can pick up on that in these photographs?
Work it on out, people!

Ok…I really think we need to all head over to the Heilers’ house to clean off a wall so that they can display this next series, and BIG.
Whaddya think? Who’s in?

This image says so much about them. Love it!

Kisses with cookie crumbs…what a delicious combo!

A definite contender for the Christmas card.

How gorgeous are these children??

Finley is the King of the World. Yeah. I’m old, so I’m sure he doesn’t get that reference.
(Titanic for those of you who are still in the womb.)

Such a fun family!

Don’t you love it when kids just break out into song randomly? I know I do.

What a cutie. I’m definitely putting him on Millie’s potential suitors list.

I LOVE this one of Mandy and Eric. It is so them.
If they were any drier, we would see tumbleweeds and dust. And maybe a canyon and a cactus.

Thanks for the fun time, Heilers fam! It was an honor!
[…] Hilarious Mandy mentioned that Sam was going to be taking lessons this spring, I jumped right on that bus. I tend […]
Misty, Madison, and Kennedy
Misty is THE BEST at what she does. She is a stylist at Salon at Eaton Court in Allen, and can I say it again? SHE IS THE BEST. Her haircuts last forever, and she is literally a cutting genius. My mom goes to her, as does my good friend Melanie, so if you want to join the posse of Misty hair followers, email me at kate@juxtaposephotography.com and I will give you her info!
Not only is she a great stylist, but she is a super mom to Madison and Kennedy, the cutest girls with the cutest curls ever! We had such a fun time playing around Downtown McKinney last week!

That Madison cracks me up!

LOVE LOVE LOVE these three!!!

Kennedy is officially a toddler, so she was movin’ and shakin’ all over the place!

Darling, Madison…I think she loves the camera. It’s a mutual thing, girlfriend. =)

They are so cute! I like the b/w where the older sis is kinda looking off to the side. So cute!
Head over heels in love! What a great start to a Monday. Thank you.
Yes, Misty DOES cut my hair…..NO ONE ELSE BUT MISTY! The best!!! And Kate, once again you captured precious children - Misty’s precious girls…..NO ONE ELSE BUT KATE!!! THE BEST!!!!!
These are so ridiculously good. What beautiful lighting and subjects! Great job, girl!
LOVE LOVE LOVE them!! They are all fantastic!
The VW Family
While in Austin a couple of weekends ago, I squeeeeeeeeezed in this family so their darling (and gorgeous) mother, Jeannette, could have a photo for their Christmas card. We were a bit rushed since I was booked back to back and DARN that DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME, so I will finish their session after their rockin’ son Billy graduates from TCU (holla!) and is back home in January. Can’t wait to hang with these peeps again…they are soooo very cool.
Here are some of my faves!
Americana!

I am so loving this for their Christmas card.
It shows everyone together, but also in their own little worlds. Luke has his football, Jackie is chillin’ like a fashionable villain, Jeannette and Steven are lovey-dovey, and so is Billy with his girlfriend (and fellow Horned Frog), Megan.

Rock it out, Horned Frogs!

I agree- that one in front of the barn doors is awesome. Including the girlfriend in the family shoot- very serious. Maybe there will be a wedding soon! They are all adorable together. What a lovely slice of life. I must visit Texas and soon!
I too love the “christmas card” !!! Hope we are just like that in a few years!
Laura + John :: Engaged
Laura and John have been together for ages. They have many memories, and have even raised two beautiful boys. This October, they will announce their love by joining their hands in marriage at a most whimsical and bohemian event. I am so honored to get be their photographer!
Here are just some of my faves from our little morning adventure.

I LOVE these! The one of Laura and John from the back with the sunlight is awesome, and the one of the boys on the truck is precious! But my favorite is the one with the entire family in the doorway with the sunlight in the boys’ hair–I’m sure they’ll want a huge print of that! Great job–as always!
awesome shoot sister!!!
Wow! Love the pictures. I agree about the one of the boys on the hood of the truck. Precious. And I really like the one of Garreth and Griffy sitting against the truck wheel, the tree a bit fuzzy and the boys and truck in sharp focus, just a cool photo! My favorites of you and Johnny are the ones of you sitting on the hood of the truck and him in front of you, facing each other. And the family pic on the loading doc is great. Love the colors and you ALL look great! Makes me want to shoot a roll or five of film. Hmm, gotta find a truck! Love & Hugs, Jessica
Intense, sweet, sexy, fun - who could ask for more.
[…] raising a 3 year old, I cannot manage the level of decisiveness needed to pick out blog images for Laura and John’s wedding post. There are too many favorites. Just too […]
The Shepherds
It was such an honor to do this session, knowing that these guys hadn’t had a family photo done in well, almost a decade. Lloyd, Ana, Nikki, and Alan are such delightful people, and their loving interactions are such a joy to watch. I had a wonderful afternoon with them, exploring our surroundings and joking around! Too much fun in the sun!

One favorite!

Absolute favorite! Lloyd and Ana so deserve this, as they have virtually no pictures capturing them as a couple…so in love!

We stopped off at the Snow Cone Lady’s stand at the end of the session for a treat. I think I need to go back there!

Thanks, Shepherds, for a fabulous time!
Kate, these pics are great!! Where did you guys go for the shoot???
These guys are my neighbors and Kate did a great job showing them as they are.. Kate, your pics are just so honest and poignant! Love the work!!
OOoOoh snow cones, I’ve been craving one since summer started but don’t know of any places around Dallas. Great shots!
Many thanks to Kate for making the experience more memorable than what we anticipated. You are a class act…but, with you, it’s no act. Thank you!
Jewels..The pictures were taken at the new/old Frisco Heritage Center a block east of Frisco’s new City Hall over by Pizza Hut Park. It’s a really neat area and Ms. Snowcone Lady is just a bit south of the Heritage Center at http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=8760+John+Elliott+Road+75035&ie=UTF8&ll=33.151421,-96.831007&spn=0.008408,0.018797&z=16
Jenn…thanks to you for introducing us to Kate. I know sisterhood runs pretty deep but have to say everything you said about Kate is spot on. Thank you.
“Joy to the world! All the boys and girls….” A big dose of joy in this viewing. Thank you.
Great pix. Definite keepers.
Lloyd….thanks for the map!!! The area looks really neat. They are really doing a lot in Frisco, I’ll have to go by and visit. You have a beautiful family, and there is no one better than Kate to capture that!!!
The McKinney Meffords
Over the course of the past year and a half during which Juxtapose Photography has been in existence, it has been a rare thing to come across photographs including me. Not that I want to stare at myself all day, but it would be nice to capture the essence of our little terrific trio: Bobby, Mills, & me. We have tons of photos of Mills alone and with Bobby, some uber cool ones of Bobby and me, but none of all of us together. We have so much love goin’ on in our fam, and I really DO want to stare at THAT.
Who’s the perfect photographer for the job? Well, the person who knows us best and knows what the heart of Juxtapose stands for would be great. Just so happens that person is my mom! She’s not just my associate photographer, but my best friend and I cannot thank her enough for taking the time to photograph us on our vacation. We love you, Mom! Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU!

And of course, I just HAD to hop behind the camera to snap these of Mom and her favorite toddler.
They are so bonded and I just couldn’t be happier about it.

So adorable! You have a beautiful family!
Great family photos. The ones of you and Mills are so precious.
so beautiful Kate! I love you all so much and look forward to seeing you soon. Give Mills a big fat kiss from her Aunt Sarah…
Awww you guys are soooooo cute!
so natural and SOOO cute!
Fabulous! Thanks, SUZ. We want one of all three. And………..we are so glad you had a good time!
I am so happy that Sarah Miller got me back in touch with Sue! Here’s to new beginnings…..
Kate you are so beautiful and that child just takes my breath away. I love looking at your family. These photographs are so incredible. You and your Mom are fabulous photographers.
I don’t know if you got my first comment. You are beautiful and your child takes my breath away.
Your Mom looks and is incredible…
Kate,
What a beautiful fam! I love the pics of your mom and Mills! Fabulous!
You have the coolest mom ever! I want to look like her and be like her when i grow up!!!!!
Ava is 6 Months!
Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of hanging out with my little baby homegirl, Ava. She is now 6 months old and can do lots of new tricks like crawling and sitting up all by herself. I am so proud of her…she is quite advanced for her age. Holla!
Ava is smiling more than ever. She is SUCH a happy baby!

She is also quite curious and loves to really check out her surroundings. Good thing Christine & Mark are there to watch her every move!

Favorite!

Love her face in this one…she’s like, “Awwww, Dad!”

Ava reached for my lens time and time again. I think she wants to be a Juxtapose intern!

Juxtapose Babies rock…Holla!

Look at that strength. Homegirl is ripped!

This is the first time her bum felt grass. I think she was highly perplexed!

Another fave!

What a gorgeous family, right?!

I love these last three…motherhood at its best!

Hugs to you three, and I’ll see you when Ava is 9 months!
6 months?!?! seriously??? she IS advanced! and darn cute.
Cute, cute, cute!! I love them all but the one where she is reaching for the camera really made me smile!
Look at that hair blowing in the wind! Fav photo there!!! What a fun lil girl!
Ava is adorable, as usual! I am constantly amazed by her abilities! Love the shots in the grass.
Love the bright color in the outdoor shots. And your black and whites are very crisp. Love looking at all of these great moments - love me some baby!
she’s adorable… love those sun glasses. i laughed when you called her “homegirl”!!
