Hannah :: Get On The Bus!

Posted on April 9th, 2009 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Hannah has that special sumpthin’ that makes you want to be her friend. She is magnetic. She’s got joie de vivre and je ne sais quoi and eyes that just don’t stop. She’s headed to the University of North Texas next year, where I am sure she will have a marvelous time! Who can resist her adorableness?

2008 Was My Favorite!

Posted on January 13th, 2009 by Kate. Filed in Hot Mommies, Dogs, A Life in the Day, Families, Get On The Bus!, Babies, Weddings

The 2nd year of Juxtapose Photography was phenomenal. I got to meet and learn about so many wonderful people through the lens and face to face. I am the luckiest girl in the world, and here’s the proof! Here is the slideshow of all of my favorite images (both personal and professional) from this past year.

To see the show, please click on the image below or this link! Then, hold your horses for a minute or so and let it load. Then, turn up your speakers and rock and roll!

Katie :: Get On The Bus!

Posted on October 22nd, 2008 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Miss Katie is about as classy as they come. She’s a senior at Lucas Christian Academy this year, and I predict great things for her future. Seriously, folks. She is more mature than I was at age 23. No lie.

Not only is she model-gorgeous, but Katie has a graceful ease about her that makes hanging out with her very enjoyable. She seems to be an old soul, and maybe that’s why I think she’s so darn cool. I can’t wait to see what she cooks up over the next few years…I know whatever it is will be good!

Love how she crosses her ankles in a shy sort of way.

katieashleydockcr.jpg

What’s a better way to memorialize the construction of Downtown McKinney than to be photographed in the midst of it?!

katieashleytapecr.jpg

Something about this next image just gets me. So darling!

katieashleyhairstrandscr.jpg

katieashleyhaytherecr.jpg

I am starting a project involving senior girls called “Label Alley”. High school is such a defining stage in life when we are coexisting with labels that we have been given since elementary school. During this time of identity examination, we either cling to those labels or toss them aside. I loved getting to know Katie through this process, and finding out what she thought of herself and what others thought of her. Not everything she thought of herself was in line with her peers’ image of her, and to me, that makes for a very interesting discussion. Discovering which labels are clung to and which are transcended and why will be a fascinating study that I’ve been craving for a while. (Just so you know, I used to be a Psych Prof, so this isn’t totally coming out of left field!!!) Good times.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the black and white triptych in the field! Gorgeous stuff. And your “labeling” project seems fascinating!

Julie Oct 22nd, 2008 at 2:06 pm

Katie is absolutely stunning. Her personality just pops off of these pictures. Great job, Kate!

Chris Ashley Oct 22nd, 2008 at 6:41 pm

Dear Kate, Thanks for doing such a great job with Katie! You absolutely captured her. She had a great time with you.

Veronica Oct 22nd, 2008 at 10:48 pm

Fantastic Job on the pics! I wish I was in Texas so I could get mine done….

Cindy Oct 23rd, 2008 at 8:32 am

Kate. Your label project sounds amazing! I can’t wait to see more photos involving your project. It could make a great coffee table book….or art show. I used to be an art teacher so when you are ready to set up the exhibit let me know, I’ve organized just a few. ;)

Taylor :: Get On The Bus!

Posted on October 20th, 2008 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Taylor is a senior at Allen High School, and also happens to be the brother of a Juxtapose bride. Like his gorgeous sister, Heather, Taylor has definitely got good looks on his side. Plus, he is super sweet, a Southern gentleman, and he even put up with my bossiness for an hour. His girlfriend, Rachel, has him trained well. ;-)

Check him out!

Thank you sooo much Kate for capturing Taylor’s natural expressions. He likes the black & whites. I like the laughing shots, they’re so Taylor. We can’t wait to see more of your fabulous work at Heather’s wedding next year! Gonna be fun!!!

[…] wait till August 1st. Why? I get to photograph the so-bubbly-she’s-effervescent Heather (Taylor’s sister) and the charming gentleman Chad’s […]

Lauren :: On The Bus!

Posted on January 30th, 2008 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Not only is she model-gorgeous, but she has an infectious laugh, is a wise old soul in a 17 year old body, and is as sweet as the chocolate shakes she loves so much. Lauren is pretty much an “It Girl” who doesn’t even know she is IT…which makes her even THAT much cooler.

A cheerleader, a musician, a fashionista, and a witty witty little thing, Lauren personifies juxtaposition. I beg you to try to put her in a box…Please try just so I can laugh at you! You can’t. She obeys all the rules while breaking them at the same time. I am so glad I got to photograph her at this pivotal point in her life…what an honor.

So, Seriously. Get On The Bus!

Posted on December 7th, 2007 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

So, as seen in Mattie, Lindsey, & Taylor’s sessions, this ain’t your average senior portrait session. The Get On The Bus! session can take you anywhere. Here’s how we get from point A to B:

~Email me at kate@juxtaposephotography.com.

~Get your deposit (the full amount of $500) and portrait contract back to me and we will set up your appointment (date & time, location TBD).

~We’ll strike up a friendship during which I will find out eleventy million things about you so that I can draw some inspiration for your concepts and locations.

~Unlike a lot of photographers, I DO NOT use catch-all locations. EVERY SINGLE PORTRAIT SESSION IS COMPLETELY CUSTOMIZED. I don’t reproduce poses or ideas unless you have a clone that also books me, and due to scientific advances or the lack thereof, I highly doubt that will happen. =)

~We will talk about clothing and accessories and anything that you need to be totally yourself in front of the camera. I LOVE this part. Please feel free to totally take advantage of my fashion background.

~On the day of the session, we will feel like old friends departing on an adventure. We will hit up various spots that reflect who you are as a person and just hang.

~Don’t forget, you can also do your session WITH YOUR FRIENDS if you want to. Extravert…introvert…whatever you may be, I already lurve ya.

~After the session, you get a blog sneak peek, a full online gallery, a cd of a boatload of retouched images, shared copyrights, printing recommendations, and some killer un-wallets. None of that cheesy gold embossing stuff here.

~Dates are already filling up, so if you want to get in before your senior year is ovah, holla back and GET ON THE BUS!

Taylor :: On The Bus

Posted on December 6th, 2007 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Little baby Tay-Tay. This “Busdriver” may be the most juxtaposed of the three. It’s hard to put your finger on what is special about Taylor, but upon meeting her, you just know that she has that je ne sais quoi. With a twinkle in her eye, she is simultaneously elegant and childlike…very Holly Golightly without the inner angst.

This All-American girl could not be any busier. Not only is she academically inclined, but she is a track star, volleyball playah, and a cheerleader. How does she have time to keep herself together? Who knows, but she does. She does it all with a smile. Some say she’s high voltage like that. ;-)

Mattie :: On The Bus

Posted on December 5th, 2007 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Oh, Mattie…the girl who inspired the Get On The Bus! campaign for 2008. I love her like a family member, partially because I have known her since she was born. She is part of a beautiful all-blonde sister trio that looks like miniature versions of their hot mama, Melissa.

Though she may be gorgeous on the outside, she is just as stunning on the inside. Such a sweetie, that Mattie is. She is very involved in her church youth group (go Brenham Presbyterian Church!), is a cheerleader, and also is quite the scholar. Word on the street is that she is heavily considering Texas A&M, but we shall see…wherever she ends up, she will be turning heads and impressing profs, no doubt.

Get On The Bus (Seniors 2008)!

Posted on December 5th, 2007 by Kate. Filed in Get On The Bus!

Meet Mattie, Taylor, & Lindsey. Get to know them and love them over these next few posts, and be assured that this Get On The Bus campaign is gonna take your butt to town!
