T-Swizzle in the Hizzle
Are you dying, cuz I’m dying over here. Just when I think Taylor Swift can’t possibly get more adorable, she goes and does this. PLEASE, God, let Millie grow up to have the same sense of humor. It would make life real fun.
I Can’t Get It Out of My Head {High School Musical 3 :: Now or Never}
W. I. L. D. Wildcats!
Love the drums, the whistles, the cheering…it makes me feel like I am right there at the East High basketball game. Am I a loser if I LOVED High School Musical 3 and I am a 31 year old? If you said yes, I say WHATEVS. I own my dorkiness. Yep. I’m a wannabe theatre kid.
We took Mills to see it last Sunday, and it was her FIRST TIME to go to the movies. It was a success. I wanted to cry at all of the cuteness. The way she kept getting folded up in her chair and the squeals of delight directly after will never fade from my memory. I loved it when she got out of her seat and asked me to dance with her as Troy and Gabrielle were dancing. Yeah, I’m pretty sure the people behind us didn’t think it was so cute, but I nearly teared up. What a doll, she is…and, I think, a future theatre kid.
You are not a loser for loving HSM 3……I was as excited to go as Hannah was!!!
We (my 3y.o and I) are eagerly awaiting the release (we are in Australia).
I think there will be singing and dancing when we go too ![]()
We Be Jammin’
As I am editing like a MAD WOMAN (Amie, Chrissy, Katie, Mindy, Courtney, Betsy & Lois—I am burning the midnight oil for you ladies!), I am jammin’ to some INCREDIBLE music. Go check out these if you are in need of an auditory fix.
Joshua Radin’s newest EP :: Unclear Sky
~all 4 songs rock the hizzie, but “Sky” is one that you will welcome to get stuck in your head…plus, he’s cute!

Death Cab For Cutie’s newest album :: Narrow Stairs
~you can listen to the entire thing and rinse and repeat…love it!
Vampire Weekend’s self-titled album
~rinse. repeat. rinse. repeat. all. day. long.
MGMT’s first full album :: Oracular Spectacular
~not really meant for Mom or her friends, since there are *gasp* curse words and the like, but it will make you shake it fo’ sho’!
Have fun, and let me know what you are jammin’ to!
Oh you’re a Johua Radin fan!! Me too
I bet you’re a schuyler Fisk fan too then! I adore her and I was lucky enough to meet them both when they were in my town last year.
Hey Kate, Mindy’s Mom here…still stalking your blog…hoping to see pics of the wedding! ;o) We can’t wait!
Love ya,
Sheri
These days I am rockin out to “The Hot Dog Dance” from the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Holla!
I Can’t Get It Out of My Head {Coconut Records :: West Coast}
For the past two nights, perhaps due to my schedule filling up like a Starbucks at 8am, I have been tossing and turning. As I’m on my back with my trusty Nick & Nora sheep blankie (that I’ve had since my college days) curled under my chin, this little diddy circles round and round and round and round and round in my brain till I feel like I am going mental.
Anyone else get songs stuck in your head in the middle of the night or am I the only crazy one?
definitely a cool song. my cousin turned me on to it…I still can’t believe it’s jason schwartzman!
I get the same crazy songs stuck in my head during situations. When I’m working (shooting, crazy editing, scrubbing floors and toilets) I hear Donna Summer “She Works Hard” and when my house is erupting in the craziness of 3 kids and a dog I hear the Benny Hill Theme song…just google it if you don’t know which one it is. It’s the same ones every time!
I Can’t Get It Out of My Head {The Kooks :: Naive}
No, it’s not new. It has been around for a couple of years. However, I fell in love all over again when it graced my car speakers yesterday afternoon. Sunroof open, hair flying, singing at the top of my lungs while simultaneously head-bopping…good times.
It brought me back to a place I had forgotten about…23 years old. Live music junkie still trying to find herself. Careless, free, hippie chick who took the time to let the music pump through her veins till she had to jump up and down.
Rock it out, Kooks! (side note: ya might not want to let your boss/toddler/coworker/church lady see this video)
What song makes you feel alive? Holla back and let me know!
lovely to c u

Jammin’ for the Elizabeth Toon Foundation
Last Thursday night, Poor David’s Pub hosted the Elizabeth Toon Foundation Benefit, featuring Brice Beaird, Tom Douglas, and Tom Faulkner. I was asked to document the evening as well as capture some key shots of Brice for his website, and couldn’t say no.
Live music and a really good cause…I am so thankful that I do what I do. Life is good.

Tune up!

Larry Toon, Elizabeth’s father, gives a warm welcome and introduces the performers.

Grab some popcorn for the show!

Brice gets his groove on.

Tom Faulkner does his thang.

I LOVE this shot of Tom Douglas as he is watching Brice play.

There was an amazing turnout for the event…SOLD OUT!

I was completely obsessed with this cowboy mosaic that was in one of the corners.

Something about this shot seems like a glimpse into Brice’s soul.

Larry Toon and the crowd applaud Brice, Tom and Tom for fabulous performances and an evening to remember.

GREAT GIG! SOME VERY MOVING SHOTS; YOU CAN FEEL THE MUSIC AND THE MUSICIAN’S SOUL. GO, KATE!
Great shots Kate! I bet it was fun to do something a little different - you did an awesome job!
Great images!! L-O-V-E the new logo!! =)
I grew up with Poor Davids Pub (the one on lower greenvile) in my everyday vocabulary! My friend’s dad owns the place. I’ve not been down to the new one yet but your photos make me SO excited to go! It looks HUGE! I mean, the last place was decent size but that’s awesome! Beautiful pictures, as always, Kate!
I REALLY like these images. The super close-up of the guitar is AWESOME!!!
A Healthy Serving of Cool
One of the compliments I hear a lot is, “I love the music on your website!”
I mean, maaaaaaaaaybe the focus should be more on the actual photos. I try to rock them out as best I can…believe me! However, given the fact that I’m not headed to Hollywood to be a soundtrack consultant, I will take this opportunity to make my own soundtrack to life and MILK IT!
Here is what I am currently listening to on my “Holla!” mix (a mix I refresh every 2 months or so)…
Paolo Nutini (my new fave, he’s like the new Jamie Cullum + Mat Kearney)
Tristan Prettyman (who is actually pretty)
Emerson Hart (cutie former lead singer of Tonic)
Bloc Party (who remind me of an all time fave, Young Love)
Will Hoge (all-American rocker from the Nashville scene)
Shiny Toy Guns (electronic, like a new sorta kinda version of Postal Service-ish-ness)
Matt Costa (so easy to listen to but not easy listening…more indie rock than that)
The Fratellis (similar to a new brand of The Strokes)
Kate Nash (if I was a musician…hey, a girl can dream)
Matt White (I’ve loved him for a while, and not just cuz he’s cute…he’s got soul)
Vanessa Carlton (a brilliant pianist and a helluva lyricist…she’s just now come into her own)
Bat for Lashes (a little weird, but we all need a dash of strangeness in our lives)

Here’s the deal: I’m not claiming that I “discovered” these peeps. In fact, I may not even beat out the most music-savvy friend in your clique. BUT—I have been complimented so much and have actually been asked to help other profesh types with their site’s music selection, so I just thought I would share what I was jamming out to.
Hope you likey!
Good to hear some of your faves — I’m a huge music lover and always looking for new stuff! (iTunes is likely to break me one of these days!)
crap! i shouldn’t have come to your blog today
i just recovered from my last week’s spending spree on itunes.
the only thing i have on this list is Paolo. Autumn is my fave song on that album
genius
way to go.
now i’ll be broke again
i want to see your studio!
Oh I love me some Emerson Hart! I was a big Tonic fan back in the day, and saw them in concert when I was like 12 and then I met them several years later and told them that’s how old I was when I fist saw them and they said that made them feel really old. lol
You do have great taste in music. You should make cd mixes and sell them. If only that were legal….
Love, Love, Love Tristan Prettyman - She was on Jason Mraz’s tour a couple of years back. It was awesome! They performed “Shy That Way” live together. *Musical Swoon*
Hey! Thanks for the new tunes!!! Are you listening to Spoon? Gotta hear Don’t You Evah. Love them!
oh yeah and Spoon’s I Turn My Camera On, would be perfect for your site! Fun!

Great taste in music! may i also suggest Johnathan Rice.
His voice is so rugged and seasoned. and don’t get me started about his knack for writing beautiful songs! give him a try. think you might enjoy him.
I Can’t Get It Out of My Head {Timbaland + Keri Hilson}
I love this part especially:
Baby girl, I don’t got a huge ol’ house
I rent a room in a house
Listen baby girl, I ain’t got a motorboat
But I can float your boat
Just genius. Or something. Whatever it is, I LURVE it and it makes me run around like Richard Simmons.
Holla! I just love, love, love this song. I am still not sick of it. My shoulders are shruggin this very minute ![]()
I Can’t Get It Out of My Head {Ozomatli}
I love this song! Millie shakes her thang in her car seat when we jam out to it. Gotta love a dancin’ toddler!
Sit tight…I have a family sesh, an engagement sesh, and a bridal sesh to share with ya! Until then, ROCK OUT!
You’re soo cute! Hadn’t heard that song yet, but you better believe I was shakin my thang just a bit! ![]()
Shake Ya A$$! Watch Yourself!
Check out my new tunes up on the wedding website. Yeah, I know that my dad-gummed jukebox song label doesn’t work. Can’t figure out how to make the colors right so it will show up! Copyright infringements all over the place, I know. Shame on me!
I will, however, direct ya to Peter Bjorn and John, Joshua Radin, and an oldie but goodie—Pixies!
Have a super weekend…have 3 sessions this weekend that I will be blogging as soon as I can…hugs galore to you all!
Awesome stuff!
Gotta love PB+J. It’s totally you!
presh!
