What a fun reminder of Paul and Nicole’s wedding!

2009 Weddings and Portraits and Baby Plans
Hi all! Here’s a little update on 2009 Scheduling from the Management…aka me.
WEDDINGS
Just wanted to let you know that 2009 is almost completely booked for weddings…I can possibly take 2 more, but they will have to be fall/winter weddings. If you go to the website calendar (under weddings, click on Get On The Books) and see an open date that you would like to book, I need you to email me ASAP. Dates will NOT be held unless I have a contract and a deposit from ya.
PORTRAITS
Due to the higher wedding volume I have booked for 2009, I will be taking limited commissions for family portraits. If you think you would like to book a session in 2009, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you contact me and get on the books. Even if you don’t want to do the session until next Christmas card season, go ahead and book it NOW. Trust me. That calendar fills up faster than you can say bananas.
BABY PLANS
I can take only 1 more baby plan for 2009. If you think you are interested or if you know someone who is, HOLLA AT ME!
Thanks, and if anyone has any questions, please feel free to email me at kate@juxtaposephotography.com.
congratulations! that is wonderful you are doing so well. : )
as always I love catching up on your work.

I am so happy for you!!! Almost completely booked for next year!! You ROCK, Miss Cake!!!
VERY impressive. Lucky are those who already are on your calendar. And seeing your calendar makes me all the more grateful that you shared your Second Shooter with BPC last weekend. No doubt you missed her as much as we loved having her. Thank you!
WOW! Good for you! That is amazing news. I have plenty of openings. *wink *wink.
yay you, with your busy schedule!!! and yay me, that we are already on the books!
can’t wait ’till next week!
The Mother of All Albums
Yes, that is literally what I call it. The Mother of All Albums is, well, one bad ass mother. Just for weddings, this hot mama will make you squeal with glee. Not only is it made of the finest materials, but the cover choices are posher than David Beckham’s wife.
Here is one of my favorite cover choice combos. Check it out.

Woot!! This is Rad! Just how big is it?
Thanks, Dustin! It is 12 inches tall by 9 inches wide. Gorgeousness!
Gorgeous! I love it!
What brand is this? Very cool indeed!
love them! I have seen them online but cant figure out ordering the darn things. If you could help a girl out can you tell me the category and name they are under? I have the site
Wow, that’s a sexy one!
AHH! I NEED those albums! Any info on how and where to order?
-muchas gracias!, another mama photographer
Update on Kate
Hey hey hey! Just wanted to let everyone know that I am still alive. I shot a fabulous wedding last night, and am in meetings this afternoon (I love my new brides!!!), and with Mills on Spring Break this week, things might be nutty. However, I vow that I will have some fun posts for ya.
This spring is almost completely booked for portraits. If you need to get on the schedule, I have several Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays left. If you are hardcore about having a weekend appointment (totally understandable), email me THIS SECOND and let’s get something set up for June!
I am so excited about all of the fun things I have scheduled for this spring…events, babies, weddings, royalty (I’ll tell more later), and some super cool commercial work…can you say vrrrooooom vrooooom? My clients freakin’ ROCK!
Hugs to you all, and I hope your week is off to a fabulous start!
Ooooh! I’m so curious now…can’t wait to see what you’ve got up your sleeve!
Wearin’ My Brand New Shoes!
Not sure if you have noticed, but I have revamped my look a bit.
The inspiration was flowing in early January when I was at the Digital Wedding Forum convention in Tampa. I was chatting with some of my photog buddies about what I wanted to do for my new logo, and Chenin told me I MUST use her logo designer, Allison Howell of Ink Invitations.
So check it out at the top of the blog and on my newly shaped up splash page. Allison did an AMAZING job of capturing not only me as a photog, but me as a person…my very own brand! It oozes with Kateness!
I also have decided to put the chocolate brown on the back burner. When I first started my business, I think I was looking for a “safe” color to go with my favorite turquoise. Over time, I have really come into my own and am proud that the colors that best represent me are happy yellow and bold turquoise. No need for formal colors here!
I want to scream it from the rooftops that Juxtapose Photography is WHIMSICALLY STYLISH & HEARTFELT…ALL IN THE SAME INSTANCE. Juxtapose Photography will simultaneously put a spring in your step and send your heart a-flutter!

Love it!!! Congratulations (and I may steal your logo designer!)
Oh KATE!!! I LOVE IT!!!! I only know you through the screen on my computer, but, this seems to BE YOU! What an exciting step in your biz! We still can’t wait to Juxtapose our family this summer!
Yea you!
I am in love with it!!! Love the colors!!! IT ROCKS!
i love the mix of the two colors. whimsical indeed.
Not Helping…
…my waistline. Being in an office above Spoons Cafe is TORTURE!

you should move.
this can’t be good
AY DIOS MIO!!!!!
lol! Looks yummy, just send it this way! Yeah right as if my waistline needs it.
LOVE the pics of the new place! We are going to have to come for a visit and lunch. Way to go, Kate!
You know, of course, that you can gain weight just by smelling this stuff? I swear: all i ever did was inhale! Apart from the caloric hazards, the office is great. Already, i find myself thnking of it as Kate’s Roost.
How many people get to work so close to such delights? Savor it. Every life deserves a little sweet treat now and again.

The Office
No, not the TV show from which we are all experiencing withdrawals due to the writer’s strike…MY office.
Located in DIVINE Downtown McKinney above the scrumptious Spoons Cafe is the adorable space I share with wedding planner, Wendy Kidd. Have a look!
The front room is “more Wendy’s”, and the back is “more mine”, but seeing how the whole place flows makes me smile.

I love my funky fabrics and my new little love seat.

I have known this rooster for a LONG time. He lived on a table in my grandmother’s living room from the time I was born till the time she passed away several years ago. Seeing as I am the relative who is carrying her artist torch, we all thought it was fitting that I get to keep the crazy rooster. I think he should be the unofficial mascot of Juxtapose Photography.

Here’s my room! I am just in love with it.
You can’t see it because it is behind the door, but I also have a small little kitchen area that houses fun things like Spoons’ cupcakes!

Here is my grandmother’s drafting table, which I now use as my desk.
I am so honored to be able to work at the same place where she created so many wonderful things.

And yes…here is the teaser from a few posts back! I found this at Chiasso and was immediately taken.
It inspired my new logo which is on the way, courtesy of Allison Howell of Ink Invitations!

There are a few more things to be added, like an upholstered chair and a coffee table, but for the most part it is ready to rock & roll.
Thanks for visiting!
Wow what a great space Kate. The light is great in there and the colors are really nice. It looks like a wonderful place to do your thang.
Oh Kateeeeeeeee!!! how amazing. I’d love to have a studio space one day. Absolutely GORGEOUS darling. So unique.
That’s awesome! My office is easy to visualize. Take a power mac, dual monitors, an old chair, an Ikea desk, a box full of magazines, papers, camera bits and my trusty dog — all shooken up in a blender and shot by a cannon into the corner of my dining room! ![]()
Congrats! How exciting!!! It looks great.
LOVE IT!! It is perfect for the two of you. Great color and light!! I know you will do big things there!!!
You have got to be kiddin’ me, girl! This is fantastic!! What a wonderful space! It totally “fits” you and yuor imagery. i can’t waitto see how this base of operations will expand your business. Congrats!!!!
Congratulations!!!! We are so happy for you! The space is stunning and totally Kate. My computer is starting to smoke- I think some of my drool got in the motherboard! Yeah!
what a fantastic space! i’m so happy for you!
Ooooh, lurve it girl! Good for you - the colors and Grandma stuff are awwwwwesome! Yay for you!
That space rocks! What a place for you to share your creativity with others!!!
What an amazing space! I’m sure it inspires you daily.
It’s gorgeous! You will do wonderful work there!
Your vision becomes a reality. Truly inspiring. Everything is gorgeous and comfortable. The sentimental pieces are so the icing. I’d love to come see it some day. Congratulations!
Oh Kate!! What an amazing place to create!!!! It is just like your own little club house! I hope that it brings you great joy and lots of new fun clients! yay you!
love your space!!
i love it… the color, the rooster, the loveseat! what a great space to work in.

EASE UP WINNER (Winter 2008)!
After countless emails and comments (thank you thank you thank you!), we finally have a winning image and winning participants in the EASE UP AWARD for Winter 2008.
Congratulations are in order for Nancy of the fabulous Mom, Ma’am, Me blog, and our fabulous family friend Jennifer Dalman, for both suggesting this image. You will EACH get a $20 iTunes gift card shortly!
Here she is…the winning image for this season (from Emily + Travis :: Hitched!)

Thanks to everyone who participated, and stay tuned for the EASE UP AWARD for Spring 2008!
Great Choice!!! That is a really fun picture that shows all that you capture so beautifully!!
Me likey!!! Such a credit to your work that it was so difficult to choose!
YAY! That’s been my pic all along! Kudos ladies!
This is super. But, why not? You have so many extraordinary pictures that it would have been very difficult to pick one that would not be a winner.
WOO HOO! Thank you!
I really do love that whole photo shoot (though of course I’m a huge fan of all your work). There was just something about the vibe of that wedding — the colors, the scene — and I think it’s a great representation of your style.
Yippee!
I am totally blown away by your work and this photo just has “the look” (as your Mom a.k.a. Auntie M would say). Thanks for the itunes the boys and I will have fun picking out traveling tunes.
yep! that’s the one! so adorable!
The EASE UP AWARD for Winter 2008
For the love of Jo-fess (the way Millie pronounces Joseph sometimes), can you guys help me sort through my gazillion images to pick THE ONE?
I am {thisclose} to moving into my new office in downtown McKinney, but am stuck in decorating purgatory. I have this AMAZING easel that my artist grandmother used to paint on, and I would love to put a ginormous print on it.
Problem is, choosing ONE image is like choosing a favorite child. Which, I of course have a favorite child, since I have just one, but you get the picture.
Here’s where YOU come in. Calling this the EASE UP AWARD for Winter 2008, I am asking you to choose it for me.
Requirements of the image are that it should be wedding related, a vertical image, and the best representation of my style you can find.
Whoever submits the winning image gets a $20 iTunes gift card…seriously. All those free tunes for just telling me what to display. Pretty kickass if you ask me. We will rinse and repeat every season so somebody could really score if they pay attention and stalk the blog like a good citizen should.

So, send me an email to kate@juxtaposephotography.com with your response and title your message “EASE UP”. Hopefully we will have a winner soon! Feel free to get your coworkers/friends/crazy uncles to help. =) Thanks!
Oh, darn. “Wedding Related.” And i was instantly ready to nominate the pic of Bobby and Millie in front of the counter at Spoons. This will take a little longer.
Ok, i’m narrowing it down. So far, my piks are “Terry with Ladybug on Bodice,” Susie the Firefighter with caption “Don’t Let Your Fire Die,” Julie’s grandmother’s rosary among leaves, Meliss and her father shot from behind through leaded window, Terry on floor siggping soda in convenience store, Melissa posed behind horse’s head, Hannah (Julie’s daughter) with red lollipop. I haven’t been to “engagements” yet and, hey, aren’t babies “wedding related”?
I have to say that I love the shots with the horse
I looked for one with both the bride and groom, but didn’t see one that was as striking.
Good Luck choosing! ![]()
I like the one of Audie from a distance w/ the red brick wall behind her…come on itunes!!!!
Wedding related? I know of a PERFECT picture of two great kids you photographed that would look awesome on the easel. Can’t you have a second easel for kids? lol… I know Miss Millie would get top billing if you did! And she DESERVES IT! Adorable Millie!
OK, I am going to list all of my faxes (that meet all of your criteria) and see if any strike a cord with you… 1. the pic of Terry and Casey almost kissing with the giant tree looming above them 2. The one of Jenn and Wes kissing in front of the Pepsi thermometer 3. The one of Jenn and Wes walking toward you on the cracked road with the incredible sunset behind them 4. The one of Melissa with the horse. There you go, girl, my top 4 list!!
ok…here goes…
love sixpence in boot from melissa + david’s wedding.
love terry’s bridal of her standing at address 6780 with scarf and sunglasses on.
love melissa + horse
love allison + kinnon sitting against mural with huge tree shadow above them…this one has your colors in it too!
can’t wait to see your office!
Okay, the criteria made it tough, but I was finally able to narrow down to these two of Audie. She and the entire shoot really embody how I think of Juxtapose… She’s beautiful, and you’ve really captured her personalities (multi-faceted).
-Audie, yellowbld1crjpg
-Audie, feedstorefavcr.jpg
I also love the one of the bride and two bridesmaids (August, I think) in front of the bus, but I wasn’t sure if that would be confusing with the “Get on the Bus” senior campaign.
You have so many amazing images, it is a challenge to choose just one! Good luck.
So hard to pick just one…it’s like going to Krispy Kreme, all those donuts calling my name but my hips say I can just eat one. If I had to pick one that I think represents your style the most I would say #76 (bride in booth). I love the dress hanging shot as well, but I think the booth shot is more unique. Just like you my sista! Good luck!!!
Oh wow - I know how hard that is, girl! You are so cute!!! Good luck!
BTW, it’s hard because you’re awesome. Just in case you didn’t know. ![]()
This may be my second message of the morning. I went to check the spelling of “easel” (i had it wrong)and my first one flew away. So, what i was trying to say was why not use that special easel for a rotating show? You work is so splendid that it would be a shame to limit it to one photograph.
I emailed you my pics!!
Ease up–okay, I admit I am a little prejudiced but I think the picture of Terry and Casey under the tree almost kissing is just it. It just screams romance. My second choice is Terry in the gas station aisle with the Dr. Pepper. It says something about you and your subject in that you knew that the setting would suit her and she would be crazy enough to go with it, letting you be as creative as you wanted to be. It’s a great example of colaboration between subject and artist.
Okay-I’m prejudiced. The picture of Terry and Casey almost kissing in front of the tree is so romantic. I am also partial to the Terry in the aisle at the gas station picture too . Both of those pictures show how you can choose a setting to suit the subject and how you can get them to relax and have fun. I know Terry had a blast the day of the gas station picture. Getting the subjects to relax and become unseflconscious is a gift. Both Casey and Terry are pretty exhuberant people and you took that characteristic and got these two lovely pictures of them.
